STORY
There are times, and it doesn’t happen too often, when you know that you have captured something special the second after you press the shutter button. This is one of those moments. I had just spent half an hour walking around looking for locations around this wonderful jetty, looking for the best composition/view point. Each time I took a shot I would spend time thinking what the outcome of the photo would look like, but each time not feeling confident that I had captured the moment. The light was getting low, the day was coming to an end. I picked up my camera and headed for the bus until something caught my eye. I set my camera down and quickly composed the shot. The sky began coloring up. The light by now was low which meant the exposure would be longer. I knew the water would render a silky smooth appearance. Everything was falling into place. I looked through the view finder one more time, made some very small adjustments, carefully pressed the shutter button, and bang, there was the shot I’ve been waiting for. I knew immediately that I had something special the second after I pressed the shutter button. Sometimes you need to slow down in case you miss the moment.
